TAKASHI KANAZAWA

Yatagarasu (Three-Legged Crow), 2020

Metal pigment, sumi ink, dye on Japanese paper

17.9 x 15 x 0.8 inches (45.5 x 38 x 2 cm)  FROM THE ARTIST:

Yatagarasu is a mythological three-legged crow who led Emperor Jinmu from the Kumano region during his eastern expedition. The crow is respected and worshipped as a god who wards off evil. It is a widely used symbol, including as the Japan Football Association logo. I hope Yatagarasu will lead us through the turbulence of pandemic.
